Brief Description
As described by our CSCI Inspector:
St James Lodge is a Care Home with
Nursing that is registered to accommodate a maximum of
38 Service Users above the age of 65 of either gender.
This age limit lowers to 40 for Service Users who
require Nursing or Terminal Care. The Home is one of two
homes owned by Mr Sutherland in the Plymouth area. It is
situated in the Stoke area of Plymouth and is close to
local amenities. It is also on a bus route that goes
direct into Plymouth City Centre.
St James Lodge is a large Georgian property that has
access from the main road and offers limited parking
space within the front entrance. The property has been
extended several years ago to provide further bedrooms
on the ground floor. The home is arranged over two
floors, the first floor being accessed by stairs or a
five person passenger lift. There are several separate
communal areas on the ground floor and a well maintained
garden and patio area to the rear and side of the
property.
Care is provided by a team of Registered Nurses
supported by trained care staff and a variety of
ancillary workers.
Accommodation
St. James's has 35 beds including
some double rooms for couples or friends. All meet
current regulations in all respects including
sizes and facilities. Lockable storage is
available in all rooms, and door locks & keys available
on request.
Facilities
There are two large lounges, two smaller lounges, and
a large dining room. The ground floor shower room and
bathroom have been completely refurbished, complete with
a new £10,000 height adjustable bath,
making bathing safer for clients and staff.
